It’s 4:40 am and I’m reading this in tears because I feel this is the conversation my heart would have with me. I going to try this exercise when I get the courage to do so. Thank you for sharing this raw conversation with self.
Thank you for sharing this deep truth. Just before going on retreat recently I came across a meditation by @ailey jolie who opened with, "What does your heart know that your mind has been too busy to hear?" I took that prompt with me on retreat, and wow, did my heart have some things to tell! Still sitting with the wisdom of the heart, and marveling at a universe that opens up the hearts of others at the same time.
I am currently reading “Speak, My Soul”, by Marsha Crockett. I grew up in an abusive home, then married an abusive husband. 16 years ago I married a kind and loving man and am only now learning I can actually be myself (without armor) without fear of harm. It’s both amazing and scary at the same time. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s wonderful to know I’m not the only person to ever go down this road.
Dr. Walker Barnes, thank you for sharing your heart conversation and the interview with Dr. Brown. I’m definitely going to try the heart conversation and see what she has to say.❤️
That reached inside to MY Heart and said, "hey, speak up and out, so Thom can hear", and also, "Thom, shut the fuck up, be quiet and LISTEN to your Heart!" (Said to MySelf with so much Love.) Thank you ~ Im going to pull out my Purple (colour of Royalty) notebook and have a sacred conversation with my Heart.

It’s a powerful exercise. Stumbling upon it reminds me that I need to work through the rest of the book.

I’m going into a retreat this weekend and I may use this question as my intention. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings for your retreat!
Wow. That was so generous of you to share. I will try this conversation. Thank you Dr. Walker Barnes!

You are definitely not alone. Many of us stay armored for lots of different reasons. And it’s so hard to peel it off!
