I appreciate your willingness to help me/us as white people to understand our privilege and to challenge us. I live in western Canada where it snowed again here yesterday! But to use your analogy, I think sometimes we don’t get the weather report that snow is coming and we don’t even know that we need to prepare. We are so oblivious. Thanks for writing this. I am going to share it with friends to open discussions.

Excellent comparison! I have absolutely had to work on my resilience to stay engaged in the work, plus recognizing that my ability to "opt-out" is a function of my privilege (and not one I want to exercise).
