Thank you for reminding us that our relationship with Jesus is personal, to note how uniquely we are made; but not private. That He knows us as we walk on this earth seeking to know ourselves.
"We even have the imperfections that often come from handmade crafting!" I loved this image you painted for us. Can trained classical musicians play every note perfectly? Is there a hand knit sweater that hasn't had a dropped stitch? A beautifully written essay that didn't begin with some grammatical errors? Instead of feeling shame over our imperfections, we can recognize that they are simply part of who we are as uniquely crafted beings created by a loving God. They're part of the process - part of what it means to be human. This provides me with a perspective shift as I think about my imperfections.
Also, I could feel my shoulders relaxing as I recited the affirmation. What a simple, helpful practice. Thank you Dr. Chanequa!
As a novice to the notion of Self Care, thank you for such a melodically-written message. So often I almost feel ashamed that I cannot echo the same sentiments as my colleagues who lament of exhaustion from classes, meetings planning, admin tasks, etc. Thank you for the rhythmic remainder that as God's gift, there is no shame in refusing to allow work exhaustion to routinely be a part of my life.
Thank you so much for this beautifully written reminder of what matters! I’m working on becoming more aware of how I allow religion (the church/organization I work for) to not back me into a corner of belief that my value is dependent on work and to wear exhaustion as a badge.
What a gift, to receive your thoughtful/thought filled PDF this morning! Thank you Dr. Chanequa for reminding me that caring for myself and respecting my body is indeed spirit driven and God desired 🙏
Enjoyed reading and reflecting upon Day 1.... my current self care probably resembles the entitled teenager or worst... look forward to this transformational journey!!!

Still processing the “wrench like me” that the church implies, out of my system. Affirmations will definitely assist in this.
I’m having a lot of issues with that theology lately. I find that it leads us into all sorts of problems.
