"What did God do for the millenia before God created the earth? I like to think God was just chilling all that time." Whhaattt?! Amazing. This whole letter has totally reframed my outlook on rest. Thank you so much.
Thank you. I couldn't agree more that "Rest is Resistance." Your honesty in writing about the discipline(s) of self-care complements that. To me, being true to yourself, authenticity, something you write about without writing it, is the true act of rest. Rest and self-care begin with it. Again, thank you for your honesty about rest and self-care.
Yes and amen. Thank you. It strikes me that Jesus died right before the Sabbath. His followers couldn't throw themselves into avenging or working or anything that required doing. It was a full day of rest to experience alllll the emotions and self care before the joy of resurrection. Without rest we miss so much
They went through all that and then had to sit in the intensity of it. They couldn’t distract themselves with the busyness of organizing. They couldn’t even watch over his tomb. They had to rest. It’s so powerful.
Thank you. I am in a period of significant personal and spiritual recovery, and this was very helpful in reminding me that healing and restoration should not be rushed.
This was a gem Chanequa 🙏🏽
Reading this piece after your reflection on your sabbatical has me reflecting on my way of being in a busy season.

Thank you for this beautiful and insightful writing. Prayerfully I’ll be able to join the mindfulness class whenever it is offered.
Beautiful and wise message. Thank you.
