I've made a habit of getting up early to enjoy a quiet moment, all for me. There is nothing better than spending time with my cup of coffee, deep breathing, looking out of the window at the new morning. Even if it's only ten minutes, my day gets off to a better start.
Isn't it funny how we shame ourselves for what we need? The truth is, we can deny our needs all we want, but eventually, our body will give out and we will have to just rest.
I read this quote written by Jasmine Bellamy "flourishing is cultivated in the spaciousness that rest provides." Thought I would share it here, as we all embrace and support one another to REST, reclaim REST, spell REST any day, any time of the day
Thank you for a wonderful reflection. My summer schedule was more like your non-summer one, and I have the consequent pain, fatigue, and sleep problems. As the summer ends I am heading into a big transition geographically, mentally, and spiritually. For my self care I will pace myself, set realistic expectations, and then reduce them (b/c I know I’m bad at the *realistic* part).
I used to think that my penchant for routines and schedules was pathological, a sign of an overly controlling and perfectionist personality…. Thank you for this and the acceptance of what it really means to you. Just yesterday I was having a talk with myself to validate the things I need to take good care of myself. Still working on the process to be who I am and not fall into the abyss of what lots of people think I should be. Best wishes for the start of your school year!
Your commitment to yourself inspires me to become more committed to my own self-care. Thank you for being an inspiration for others.

Thank you for your authenticity along this committed journey of self-care. Thank you for reminding us of our rhythms.
If your ears ring on 8/13/24 between 1:30pm and 3pm(EST), I will be lifting your name and the Sacred Self-Care book during my workshop in Memphis.
Thank you for a timely and encouraging reflection. So much to unpack. I will have time because I am slowing down and taking necessary breaks.
