Thanks for sharing all this. And these folk still want nothing but power. Yay for James Somerset.

Brilliant, Dr. C.. your work + writing is always a “light” source, providing hope + lived experience truth. Grateful that my life has touched yours. Diane

This post brought tears to my eyes. I have never liked the 4th holiday and while I cannot claim reasons that are as valid as those you shared, I know that I share them now. I also remember the woman joyous at the birth of her book (and that full head of hair) and though you may not know it, I have followed your journey and have been grateful to you for all the work that you’ve done to further our collective lives together as humans. Thank you.

Thank you for this and for holding space for these 10th anniversaries. I've assigned Too Heavy a Yoke to my fall class on religious/cultural diversity and mental health at PLU. It's one of the best books I've ever read, and I'm really looking forward to discussing it with my students this fall.

Chanequa,

So much in this post to respond to! I’m grateful for your words on freedom this week. Thank you.

I remember when your book came out! The timing was so hard, and yet the book was so important and influential then as it is now.

Plus …. Dancing Goats. I’d forgotten about Dancing Goats.

Splendiferous thought and self-reflection. Thanks for the reminders of the expanse and limitations of "freedom." Thanks for sharing your reclaiming the space from the diagnosis, to the celebratory note of the publication of "Too Heavy a Yoke." So appreciate your erudition as you educate us often to love ourselves and to honor ourselves. Congrats my Sisterfriend.
