I was recently diagnosed and like you it was my first time. My body really needed the forced rest.

It’s sad to say, but cancer was my biggest self-care teacher. I wish it didn’t take illness or disability for so many of us to learn that we must pay attention to and take care of our bodies.

I was scheduled to sing a solo on Palm Sunday. That was the first time I tested positive for Covid. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I also had to muscle through with OTC because of my antidepressant. I appreciate your viewpoint.

Oh wow. That had to have been awful.

I like you am a never Covid! I have asthma and Congestive Heart Failure so I stayed at home for the first 14 months of the pandemic! As soon as Vaccines were available I signed up and got the two vaccines from Phizer

Me too. Vigilance and vaccines have been my friend. I was even exposed earlier in the month and didn’t get it. This new variant is a tricky little bugger.

I Still Have not caught it but I am very very careful and have gotten all of the vaccines and boosters as they became available! I surely wish though that I had started with Yoga Years ago and had a mindfulness practice to count on! And that despite the lifelong struggle I could have been able to keep my weight down my heart disease would be less of a problem! Thanks for writing I will be reading your articles on a regular basis!!!

Joined you on the "no longer on the never Covid list' this week. Praying healing mercies continue for you. And yes as to learning to listen to your energies and responding accordingly.

I’ve learned enough about myself to know that my judgment of my energy is not to be trusted. I’m going to rest for even longer than I think I need to!

I am closer to full energy daily. Listening to my body and doing my best to meet its needs. Which include movement like yoga. And back to gym (masked) with my trainer who adjusted things accordingly.

Our bodies tell us when to stop and rest, and what is nourishing.

Dr. Chanequa, please rest and when you think you are done resting, REST some more..(smile).

I have it for the first time too. I guess it's the season for first time folk to get COVID. I'm on my last day of isolation. Praise be to God!! Rest, OTC meds, good food, and hydration has been the healing pathway. I pray you are healing well!! 🙏🏽

This variant is supposedly better at evading the vaccine so a lot of people are getting it for the first time.

I pray people are isolating once they test positive. I have not stopped masking on planes and in large meeting spaces

Thank you! I’m better. Not completely but significantly. I’m still taking it easy.

You're welcome! That's good to hear. Take it one day at a time.

Great post. Slowing down is not my first choice but I’m learning too. Take care of you - hope symptoms are fast moving.

Thanks for sharing this message. I was also recently diagnosed with COVID for the first time. My doctor also recommended not taking Paxlovid. This sparked a time of reflection and greater self-awareness. No judgment and recognition that so much of my time has been other focused. Taking time to discern my inner voice.

I'm new to Substack and I'm soooo glad I was led here. I've always been a voracious reader but a very hesitant writer. (Although all my life I've been told that I'm a great writer.) It has always seemed like such a chore toi me. But as I approach my 50th rotation around the sun, I'm so ready to lean into it. I said all that to say that so far you're my favorite writer on here and you make me WANT to be a great writer too. I hope you feel better soon. Rest and hydration are definitely your best friends here.
