It’s the end of the semester and I’m running on empty, so I’m taking the next two weeks off.
Whew…that was a hard sentence to write. I’m nearing the one-year anniversary of this newsletter and I’ve only missed a few weeks. I love writing and I feel like something is missing in my life when I’m not doing it. But taking breaks is an important part of nurturing creativity. I’m going to be more proactive in taking planned breaks.
In the meantime, I wrote a reflection on Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter, for The Presbyterian Outlook last week. When I come back to this, my next series may be about this season of self-recovery that I’m in. Writing the article inspired me to create a Spotify playlist that represents the range of my musical tastes, everything from disco to gangsta rap to folk. No gospel, though. Maybe I’ll add something later if it fits the mood.
Enjoy your break! You’ve done a lot! Thank you for blessing us with your creativity. I enjoyed the article! Your mom’s sweetness reminded me of my grandmother. So sweet it’ll cut you!
Thank you Dr. C for reminding us that planned breaks are necessary for our soul’s survival💕 Those who pour need to be refilled and refreshed🫗
