So many of the remarks by White people are heard throughout the world. As an elder raised by strong, intelligent Black business women gave me confidence, more in my mid-life, to speak my mind, an framing my answers in a way that often intelligently shut them down, and allowed the conversation to continue. It ain't easy, but possible.

Thank you so much for this. I don't quite know how to form my comment, but I wanted to signal to you how significant this reflection is. It is helpful, convicting and empowering (as someone who has suffered in toxic work environments and questioned my calling because of those experiences). I know my own experience has fewer layers and complexities...but it is always helpful to have people speak truth and articulate experiences. May you continue to boldly speak....and may we listen well.
